The 100th monKEY...opens the bigger door
Suppose a small shift in a critical part of your population has the leverage to transform the whole?
The natural drive for people to 'belong' and get approval from ‘the herd ’ is a powerful force either for resisting change, or for inspiring coperation towards the greater vision. Intelligent, natural leadership utilises this principle to great effect.
If the thought of changing the attitudes of hundreds, or perhaps thousands, of people puts you off even starting, then just aim for the hundredth monkey.
The hundredth monkey was the critical member of an island community of monkeys who had never washed their potatoes before eating. When he followed the other 99 pioneers (not necessarily the team leaders) suddenly, as if by some telepathic influencing power, all the other hundreds of monkeys on the island changed their behaviour. Not only that, all the members of the entire species on all the nearby islands spontaneously changed as well!
You can draw your own conclusions. But if you are aware that only a cultural transformation strategy will enable you to achieve your goals, rather than throw your potatoes at the CEO, you might want to ask: who is the first small cadre of monkeys around here who really want to learn, grow and fulfil a greater potential? It doesn't need to be the boss or the most resistant board members!
Then let natural leadership do its stuff.
