Introduction
The Holy Grail of Leadership and how horses help us find it.

PART ONE
Why talk to a guru when we can whisper to a horse? Reflections on horse whispering and other metaphors of soul-centred leadership.

Chapter One
The horse: mirror of our intention

Intention is the magic wand of consciousness. When intention is clear we get the results we want, we feel good about them, good about ourselves and, chances are, others feel good about us, too.

But there is a trick: clarifying our intention. This requires doing the inner work on ourselves to discern the truth in the illusions we have about our selves and what we want.

For thousands of years, horses have been the masters of helping humans clarify our intention. Now there’s a proven methodology for horses to help us today.

Chapter Two
Spiritual intelligence: remedy for spiritual amnesia

To assert that life has many problems is a ludicrous understatement. But what if there were only ONE problem? And only ONE solution? What if we could identify that problem and apply the solution? Our thesis here is that the ONE true problem is ‘spiritual amnesia’: we’ve somehow forgotten who we really are. And the ONE true solution is ‘spiritual intelligence’. Spiritual intelligence is our own, personal, inner guru. Whispering to horses forces us to bypass the illusions of our human ego and access our innate spiritual intelligence. So why talk to a guru? When you can whisper to a horse.

Chapter Three
Metaphor: language of the soul

What if everything we believe is real is a metaphor for a far greater reality? What if all of science, all of religion is nothing more than a metaphor of this greater truth? Wouldn’t it be great to stop fighting over the metaphors and work dynamically and peacefully towards discovering that truth? What if we can use the metaphors (and mythologies) in life to learn, grow, become fully expressed and abundant? What if transformational work with horses is a truly powerful way to sharpen our metaphor-using muscles?

Chapter Four
The Holy Grail: metaphor of the soul

What if the unreasonable popularity of The Da Vinci Code is largely due to its being a metaphor of man’s futile quest for the secret of happiness as something in the material world? A jewelled chalice. A secret holy bloodline? Whatever?

What if the real ‘Truth’ about the nature of the Grail is right under our nose, right now?

When we begin to understand the sacred symbologies that have concealed the truth throughout time, we can now use them to reveal this truth. But do you have sufficiently developed spiritual intelligence to appreciate the awesome power and possibility this presents?

Chapter Five
Horse whispering: metaphor of natural leadership

Horse whispering has little to do with horses. It is an attitude towards life and it’s natural challenges that recognises that while life itself may have no meaning, it is the experiences in life to which we attribute meaning that matter. As a metaphor and training ground for learning and sharpening core life skills, few experiences surpass those you can have in the round pen.

Chapter Six
Cultural Intelligence: destiny of mankind

Beliefs create paradigms that create evidence, that support the beliefs to re-create the paradigm...

What happens if we challenge our most deeply-held cultural beliefs, paradigms and sacred cows? Not, as some do, to denigrate the spiritual potential of man, but to enhance it? Do the ancient mythologies contain real clues and insights into who we are and what we can become when we pierce the veils of belief, dogma, tradition and fear? What are the positive implications in our world as we face human and environmental catastrophe on an unprecedented scale? Can we become ‘culturally intelligent’, transcend our petty squabblings and create a truly sustainable future?
