Enjoy a sustainable future - NOW! - Executive Summary
People new to the field of 'horse assisted education' usually have three key questions:
- What's it all about? Watch the 1-minute trailer.
- Why is it so powerful – so important?
- Where did it all begin?
Why is it so powerful – so important?
As we learn to access and centre ourselves in the power of our authentic, natural leadership, things transform. We still have problems and challenges, but instead of insoluble dilemmas we do have a way forward that makes goals that were formerly impossible perfectly achievable.
At the risk of sounding simplistic, it seems we humans have one problem and one problem only – our ego or false self! The ego is the cause of all our pain, frustration and failure. You want proof? Look at today’s headlines!
The corollary to this is: we have only one solution – bypass the ego and access our true self, the source of our authentic, natural leadership. Not as easy as it sounds ---
How do we touch into this and discern the difference?
Horses do not share this problem with mankind. They have no ego. So as we work with a horse as a metaphor for a goal or relationship in our life, when we come from the ego, the horse cannot Trust, Respect or Understand our communication. The horse will assume he is the leader and either ignore us or cause us to move around and follow him.
Naturally, the converse is also true. When we work to access our authentic, natural leadership energy the horse spontaneously recognises this and follow us. The invaluable qualities of authentic Trust, Respect and Understanding do not leave the arena with the horse, they remain inside us and can be applied with equal effectiveness to positively transform our human relationships.
Where did it all begin?
This field of work is now called many things: Horse Assisted - Education, Learning, Coaching, Leadership, etc. Equine Guided – Education, etc. Equine Assisted – Education, etc, etc, etc. I call ours ‘Horse Accelerated Transformation’ because (as a recent client said) it does exactly what it says on the tin.
Over 15 years ago, as an executive coach with ten years experience, I was always seeking to push the envelope. Combining my love of horses (and the 'obvious' leadership challenges they posed) with my love of bringing out the very best in my clients, I was ready for something new. I began putting my clients together with horses – with startlingly positive results.
The seeds of horsejoy®NATURAL LEADERSHIP and HAT™ were planted. About 5 years ago I was both slightly miffed and also delighted to discover that similar ideas had been cooking all around the globe – and we’d all started within months of each other! I was no longer an eccentric executive coach playing at the fringe, but --- well, make up your own mind about what label to apply!
